The Joy of The A&W Root Bear

It's amazing how many people LOVE the Root Bear!

Everyone wants one, old young, in the middle somewhere, everyone loves the Root Bear! Some people are happy with the mini Root Bear while others long for the the Big Root Bear, if you win the Root Bear - AWESOME, but if not you can always purchase them
The mini Root Bears retail for under $5

The medium Root Bear is just over $30 and

The large Root Bear is around $140

Here are a few example of how muhc Joy the Root Bear brings!

You love him SO much, you make sure he is ALWAYS buckled in!

Moparfest 2008

I went to Moparfest on Sunday - had to be at the grand opening for Bleams on Saturday

Bought Tickets for the Super Bee and did NOT win - grrrrr

So no Cruisin' car for me this year - maybe next year I can work it into my budget OR maybe someone can start a "Buy Crystal a Car fund" hahaha! Just kidding!

There were a lot of Challengers and Chargers this year - although I can't say I have ever paid as much attention as to what models were there before I usually just walk around and enjoy the view.

I also took a lot of pictures of one of my favorite cars - the plymouth duster (my dad owns a 73 but it wasn't there)

There were actually quite a few dusters - considering it isn't as popular as the other Mopars

SO I just thought I'd post some of the pictures from Moparfest!

2000 + Night @ Bleams

One of my favorite nights yet!
We had Dale Boeru at our Cruise Night, taking pictures of the cars - they turned out great!

Dale you are welcome to come take pics anytime - it was a pleaseure to have you!

You can check out the pictures here -

We also had lots of new registrants which is always good!

We had 50 + cars!

And then there was this car (who didn't register)

Isn't that cool!!! I think i might do that to my mini van!!

It was a geat week!

On a side note I just wanted to mention the Car Hop coming up on July 20 from 6 to 9 - I hope everyone can make it!

Mustang Week

WOW!! So many nice Mustangs - it's really hard to choose a winner with so many Mustangs!

It was a great week, the weather was on our side, the cars were there, we had plenty of Mustangs to choose from and I had a great time!

Straf got the trophy at Victoria and Kathryn got the trophy at Bleams.

I just wanted to say a big thanks to Rick & Kathryn for all their help and ideas at Bleams! Thanks for helping out, it was a geat idea and it worked really well! Only problem was the mic didn't work that far from the restaurant - that's all good though, I just walked closer while talking!

Now if only someone could fix my wind problem - anyone?

Does anyone know, is this a real plate?

Bike Week

This week was bike week but as many of the bike owners told me - you wouldn't know it. We don't have a very big "bike" following but we were happy to see the bikes that were there - you are welcome to come any week!

At Victoria St. we only had 1 registered bike with 2 or 3 that came and then left without registering. At Bleams we had about 10 bikes show up and only half of those registered.

Although we didn't have as many bikes as we would've liked to have seen we did have our best turn outs of the season so far at both locations!

As wendesday night was starting out and I hadn't seen any bikes I was starting to wonder if this is a night that I should forgo next year but by the end of the night I had changed my mind, we did get some bikes and I think it was just enough not to scare the cars away and it was a really good week.

If there are any theme weeks that you would like to see next year please don't hesitate to let me know - I can always use some extra ideas!
you can talk to me at Cruise Night or email me at crystal@awburgers.ca

Car Hops and such

Very exciting things are happening!

First the Cruise On King is coming up on Friday, July 11, 2008 - This is put on by the city of Kitchener and we will have a tent set up selling pop and hopefully Floats too - we will also have the Great A&W Root Bear there so watch for us!

We are planning a Car Hop for Sunday, July 20, 2008 - we are really hoping this will be a BIG success so we can continue to do them. We have never hosted one at Bleams before so this is a first and we hope to be fully prepared to execute the night prefectly - We will have a sectioned off area with 8 spots throughout the night and it will go from 6 PM to 9 PM! We really hope to see you there!

We are also planning a Cruise Run for August, with more details to be decided upon, regarding times, and places.

We hope to see you at all these events!

My First Rain Out

So this is my first season running the Cruise Nights and I am loving it! I enjoy the people, the cars and the food! I couldn't have found a more perfect spot at A&W.

Monday night was a very sad night for me.

Normally I HATE giving out the prizes and trophy because it usually means the night is over and everyone leaves - I want people to stay MUCH later than they do. I always end up doing this much earlier than I would like.

So monday night was my first rain out. Usually I arrive early to make sure I am organized, that I know what night it is and to set up. Within 5 minutes of my arrival it started to down pour rain. I was sad - no one was there. I waited and waited . . . and waited 6:50 - the rain had slowed down 7:00 the rain stopped and the sun was out but there were still SCARY clouds - still no cruisers. I set things and up and waited some more. I felt like I was being stood up - it was a very sad moment for me. 7:30 still no cars - with much hesitation at 7:35 I decide to pack things up and go home.

Just as I had finished packing up 2 cars pull in and then a third. Much to my dissappointment the night was over - there weren't enough cars to give away any prizes so I stamped their passports and said goodnight.

This is my uneventful, very sad rain out.

First Month

Hello again!
Our first month has gone pretty well for the most part as most of you know! WOW I can't believe we already have a month of Cruise Nights!

We have been very impressed with the turn-outs at Bleams as this is the first year there and Victoria is doing pretty well also.

The weather has not always been on our side - we have had many nights of rain or chance of rain or scary clouds and even high winds

Thank you to all who have made it out on those not so nice nights!

If you haven't been around you have missed our Opening night, Classics Night, Import Night, GM Night and Ford Night.

We have Cruise Night weekly at both locations

Mondays at Victoria St. and

Wednesdays at Bleams Rd.

7 PM till Dusk

Can't wait to see you there!
